Past Research Activities

North Central Region Timber Resources Assessment

This is a Forest Service report summarizing the current stock, removals and consumption of timber resources in the North Central region. A PDF version is available on the products page.

Water relations of sapling oaks in a floodplain restoration study

This study compared the physiological responses of two species of oak to differing methods of seedling development (Bareroot vs. the "Root Pruning Method) with two outplanting methods.

Ecophysiology of white and red oaks at a Long-term Soil Productivity site

This study compared the physiological responses of two species of oak on sites differing in soil compaction treatments, differing in weed control treatments, and differing in organic matter removal treatments.

Availability of Land in New Hampshire for Biosolids Application

Begun in the early 1990's, this study used GIS to examine the interactions among geomorphic characteristics and environmental regulations on the amount of land available for municipal sludge application in New Hampshire.

Influence of recent weather events on physiological measurements

Incorporating data collected in past and ongoing studies, this research involved developing an index that relates measured transpiration and photosynthesis rates to recent weather history. This type of index would be usefull in process based ecosystem models.
